to all artists and friends! Below
are the Application and Guidelines for Scholarships from the John
E. Profant Foundation For The Arts. These are funded by community
support of the annual Fiesta Finale as well as by contributions,
grants and bequests.
Background:
The mission
of The John E. Profant Foundation For The Arts, a non-profit 501(c)(3)
organization, is to assist developing artists in the categories
of music, dance, art, drama, and literature. We are offering scholarships
ranging from $500 to $2000, to applicants who successfully complete
the audition and review process. The scholarships shall not be limited
by age and may be used to provide basic living support as well as
tuition depending on individual needs. Successful applicants may
reapply for continuing support.
Preference may
be given to artists unable to qualify for traditional scholarships,
i.e. age, financial situation, etc. The selection committee will
consist of established artists residing outside the County of Santa
Barbara.
Guidelines:
Applications
must be postmarked no later than May
31 , 2007. The outside envelope must clearly state
the category; dance, art, music, drama, or literature. You are welcome
to apply in more than one category, however, you must submit a separate
packet (envelope, application and enclosures) for each category.
Applicants must be residents of the County of Santa Barbara.
The application consists of two parts:
1. The Application Form - please
enclose 3 copies of your completed form.
2. Supporting Material
- Performing Arts Applicants:
(dance, music, and drama) must include a short (NO MORE THAN
10 MINUTES) video tape of your work. NO DUETS OR ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCES
PLEASE. Production quality of the video tape will NOT be considered,
as long as it adequately represents your talent.
- Visual Arts Applicants:
must include 8 x 10" photographic prints of your work, no
less than three, no more than ten. Inkjet or photocopied images
are acceptable.
- Literature Applicants:
must submit representative samples, not to exceed
five typed pages.
Three copies of your application and
one copy of your supporting material (video, photos, or written
material) must be included within one envelope. Clearly mark each
photo, written document, or video with your name and phone number.
These materials will not be returned.

Recipients will
be notified in August,
and awarded funds in September at the Courthouse Mural Room Award
Ceremony. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by e-mail. Funds
awarded are to be used for the purpose described in the application.
A Monitor from our organization will follow-up to assist scholarship
winners in following the guidelines to receive funds.
